July 13, 2018:  Effective July 6, 2018, a person who is or was in a ‘dating relationship’, and who is or was the victim of dating violence or who is in danger of dating violence, may now seek a dating violence civil protection order from the Medina County Domestic Relations Court.

June 14, 2018: Judge Mary Kovack hosted an Open House at the Gift Exchange Center to celebrate the gift of art, to meet the muralists and to enjoy their work.

March 14, 2018: Judge Mary Kovack, in conjunction with the Medina Arts Council, announces that work has begun on a mural project at the Medina County Domestic Relations Court’s Gift Exchange Center.

March 3rd  & 4th, 2018: Employees from the Medina County Domestic Relations Court recently volunteered their time to inform attendees of the Medina Home and Garden Show about the Medina County Domestic Relations Court’s services and programs.

March 1, 2018: Judge Mary Kovack was recently awarded a $699,961 federal grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. Known as the “Grant to Support Families in the Justice System“, the grant will allow:

  • The Court to hire a full-time, dedicated Domestic Violence Magistrate, whose docket will include all domestic violence cases and all domestic relations companion cases involving the same families.
  • The Gift Exchange Center, through the services provided by the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties, to expand services to allow for self-referrals, out-of-county referrals, or referrals from other community partners for families affected by domestic violence, and to expand the hours of operation to include Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Community Legal Aid to provide additional legal services for low-income families affected by domestic violence.
